Not a question about adding something, but a mechanical question: Compared to the current code for mane and tail coloring, how much more would need to be added for a third color? (Also, easy out for people who want more than two colors: use the Fill tool in something like MS Paint).
For the code almost nothing. I have colors pretty well managed. It would just be a matter of adding a new color to the list and a new color chooser to the interface. The problem with the manes and tails isn’t the coding, it’s the art. Each piece of the hair that’s going to be a different color needs to be separate from the other colors, across up to five layers. That’s just incredibly tedious to do, and the manes in particular are already the most tedious and time consuming thing I have to do in the Pony Creator.
On the plus side, if the thing you want to color different is whole, it’s really not all that complicated. That being the case, if people request it I may well add different colored hooves or wings or such. It’s just not a major priority right now.
Also of note: The app will get any new features that are added to the online version as well, via an update. So if I do add new colors, you’ll have them both places.

Well…I pretty much make those three things. XD
But it’s really just about what project grabs my interest at the time. If I want to do something badly enough, I’ll learn how to do it.
Will the new version(s) only have two colors or will they be expanded to three color options? Asking due to things like separating out hoof color, having hair accessories that are separate from two-tone hair, or simply having triple colored hair like back in G1 or characters like Celestia.

I still have no idea. But it will be in the months range, at least. Development on the online version will begin whenever I feel like getting around to it, and there will be a very long break before that.
