Gotta say, it’s kind of not cool when people post entire pages of Gunnerkrigg Court to Tumblr, which seems to happen multiple times after each update. Ads are one way artists like Tom supports themselves, guys. The least you can do is link instead of putting the page somewhere else.
So the Houston Brony group is going to be at Comicpalooza this weekend! We asked for a panel, and they gave us nine. I have no idea why. On the one hand, this means I get my own Q&A panel. On the other, my panel happens at the same time as another, larger brony panel, and the program doesn’t do a thing but list my name—nothing about what I’m done or why anyone might want to talk to me. So, uh, I’ll probably just end up crashing the larger panel happening at that time if no one shows up for mine.
On the plus side, I’ve been developing my MLP gender and fandom panel idea, and I’m hoping I’ll get to do the full thing at a con in Austin near the end of summer. I’m actually pretty excited about that. :)

I’ve stated elsewhere that it doesn’t bother me when people don’t credit images. The Pony Creator is ubiquitous at this point; people who lie and say they drew art from it aren’t fooling much of anyone. And if they just post it without credit, no, I don’t really care. I got other things to work on. ;)
I’ve started going to brony events again. I don’t consider myself a brony, and I’m not involved in the fandom outside of these meetups, but that’s what they call themselves, so okay. The guys who organized the last meetup I went to have a panel at a comic convention in a couple of weeks, and they’ve asked me to speak again. I’m planning on talking about different kinds of fan created media, but my second proposed topic and one I’ll absolutely talk about if I get a second speaking opportunity is feminism as it relates to MLP.
I want to become a fixture at these events. I want to be allowed to speak at every brony event they’ll have me at. Apparently the Houston guys are kind of fighting with the Austin guys about organizing a Texas brony con (both want to hold it in their respective cities). I live in Houston, but I want to go to events in Austin too, and in Dallas, and wherever else I can get to on the weekend. What I want to talk about is feminism, and respect, and misappropriation and jokes made in bad taste and everything else that makes people on the Internet indignant that someone dared call out their bad behavior. People will bash you online, but I don’t think they’ll say that to my face, not so virulently. And maybe if they’re not screaming, they’ll listen on accident.
Maybe they won’t let me talk if that’s what I want to talk about. Maybe I’ll only be able to get in if I talk about my game or something safe. But I am going to make this mything, goshdarnit, and if anything I put into the Pony Creator means anything, maybe it’ll make a difference to someone.
Everyone on my dash who’s talking about it seems incredibly excited by yesterday’s new episode. I…liked it significantly less than most people seem to have.
I need more Gunnerkrigg Court fandom friends. I have so many things I want to talk about in regards to that comic.

This one was much improved over last time.
Over 100 people attended, and to be honest, I’m awful with crowds of strangers. So for the first half hour or so, I skulked around in the background, getting steadily more and more anxious because oh my god, who do I conversation?? I kind of wanted to leave, but also wanted to watch the season finale, so I figured I’d leave after that.
Luckily, however, during a commercial break one of the organizers, Corey, saw me wandering all alone and was nice enough to introduce himself. I told him my name and my Internet handle, and there was a moment where he clearly recognized “General Zoi”, but couldn’t remember from where. I told him I did the Pony Creator, and he freaked out and hugged me. Turns out they had used the Creator while designing the Houston Brony logo! He also invited me to do a Q&A after the episode was over.
